The Most Amazing Weekend Ever

Santorini

sunny 89 °F

Alright so I'm sorry I have completely been forgetting about this! After I write about this past weekend, I'll go back and fill in the gaps from the past week!

On Thursday, after class, we left in a group for Santorini!! Everyone was sooo excited and unsure of what to expect. We walked to the metro carrying all of our luggage, got off at the last stop, boarded the ferry and then sat there for an hour and a half until the ferry actually left. (The group was nervous about being late so we ended up being super early!) The ferry ride lasted from 7pm-12am and it was pretty much torture. After the first hour of playing cards and listening to music, we were all board/exhausted but every time we tried to fall asleep, we were woken up by the workers on the boat. First of all, we don't think they liked us because we were sitting in one of the restaurant style areas but there were other people sleeping there as well! Secondly, I doubt they were fond of having 19 teenagers unaccompanied on their ship. Thirdly, we are Americans. (One of the first lessons we learned as a group is to tell people that we are from Canada. It is sad but true.) When we arrived at the port we grabbed our luggage, found our hotel's bus, and drove up this CRAZY zig-zag mountain with no guardrail or anything! It was really scary. Soon after arriving at our room's and getting organized (of course that includes running through the rooms and out to our balcony and such) everyone passed out. We were exhausted and looking forward to Friday morning!

Friday morning - breakfast at 9:30. At breakfast, the group decided it would be cool to do an excursion and we signed up to take a boat ride to a volcano, hike up to the top of the five volcanoes, then take a boat ride to the hot springs and swim in them! It was awesome! From leaving our hotel, we drove to a cable car, took that down the island to the boat and then traveled to the volcano. Our boat looked like an oversized pirate ship. It was all made of wood and it had the sailboat time of charm. After climbing the rocky volcanoes in flip flops, we were all ready to hit the hot spring. I couldn't wait because I love to swim and this sounded awesome! Although there was a ladder to help people into the water, our whole group jumped off the side of the boat and it was great! We swam over to the hot spring (Wes in his life jacket haha) and the water was probably about 80 degrees so it felt nice after jumping into the cold sea water. Now, I'm sure everyone has heard of mud masks right? We decided to give ourselves our own facials (you are able to do this with the mud in hot springs) so we covered our bodies in mud and basically laughed the entire time. When we got back to Santorini we could either 1. take the cable car back up, 2. walk up or 3. take a donkey up. So hmmmmmm tough decision right? Funny. The donkey rides were great!!! Our donkeys kept zigzagging the entire way up and my donkey loved Justine's and we did get caught in a couple of horse stampedes but it was still awesome! At the top, we ate lunch and went shopping until about 5. We then started showers since there were six girls in one room and by the time we were finished we ran out for a quick dinner. After dinner we went out dancing! It was a great first day in Santorini! :)

Ok, I think you need to invest in Twitter. And by invest I mean it's free so use it, that might make detailing everything a little better.

I'm glad you're having fun. Jumping off a boat sounds fun but mostly
